Precious Metals

Gold prices today jumped sharply by Rs 680 to Rs 27,050 per ten grams in the bullion market here on heavy buying by stockists and retail customers amid a sharp rebound on the global front.

Recovering from from a 31-month lows, silver spurted by Rs 2,030 to Rs 44,200 per kg.


Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity rebounded by Rs 680 each to Rs 27,050 and Rs 26,850 per ten grams respectively. The metal had lost Rs 440 in last two session. Sovereign followed suit and gained Rs 200 to Rs 23,700 per piece of eight gram.

In a similar fashion, silver ready spurted by Rs 2030 to Rs 44,200 per kg and weekly-based
delivery by Rs 2205 to Rs 43,375 per kg. The metal had lost Rs 1,530 yesterday.

Base Metals & Energy

Crude oil futures today fell by Rs 20, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 5,282 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.


Similarly, the oil for July delivery moved down by Rs 17, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 5,305 per barrel in 87 lots


Lead prices dropped by 0.81 per cent to Rs 110.05 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand from battery-makers.

Agro Outlook

Turmeric prices moved down by 1.27 per cent to Rs 5,920 per quintal in futures trade today in line with trends at spot markets.


Cardamom prices rose by 0.57 per cent to Rs 758 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at spot markets


The spice for delivery in June edged up by 90 paise, or 0.12 per cent to Rs 727.10 per kg in 400 lots.
