Silver futures today tumbled 4 per cent to hit the lower circuit at Rs 40,912 per kg, the lowest level in 31 months, largely in tandem with a weakening trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the July contract of Silver traded lower by Rs 1,717, or 4.03 per cent, to Rs 40,912 per kg in a business turnover of 4,336 lots. This level was last seen in November, 2010.

The far-month September contract fell by Rs 1,728, or 4 per cent, to Rs 41,436 per kg in business volume of 211 lots.

Crude oil futures today fell by Rs 20, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 5,282 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June fell by Rs 20 or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 5,282 per barrel in 3,367 lots.

Similarly, the oil for July delivery moved down by Rs 17, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 5,305 per barrel in 87 lots.


Lead prices dropped by 0.81 per cent to Rs 110.05 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand from battery-makers.

Agro Outlook

Turmeric prices moved down by 1.27 per cent to Rs 5,920 per quintal in futures trade today in line with trends at spot markets.


Cardamom prices rose by 0.57 per cent to Rs 758 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at spot markets.
