Silver prices rose Rs 225 to Rs 43,988 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions buoyed by a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July traded Rs 225, or 0.51 per cent, higher at Rs 43,988 per kg in business turnover of 1,148 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in the September contract traded higher by Rs 222, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 44,637 per kg in 50 lots.

Buoyed by a firm global trend and better domestic demand, lead futures traded higher by 0.40 per cent to Rs 123.50 per kg today on buying by speculators.

The metal for delivery in June contract edged up by 10 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 123 per kg in 2,764 lots.

Copper prices moved up by 0.12 per cent to Rs 420.25 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on firm global cues.

The metal for delivery in June contracts edged up by 45 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 415 per kg in 6,116 lots.

Cardamom prices fell further by 1.03 per cent to Rs 689.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.


Adequate stocks in the physical market also put pressure on the cardamom prices.

the spice for delivery in the July contract shed Rs 6.40, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 721.50 per kg with trading volume of 148 lots.
